ReSTOR®, Tecnis Multifocal® and Crystalens®
Modern cataract surgery can provide patients with more than just distance vision. We now have special multifocal and accommodating lense implants that can provide a full range of vision - near, far, and in between.
All three FDA approved implants will accomplish this in different ways. James R. Pinke, M.D. is specially trained in the use of all three types of implants and individualizes the choice of implants based on each patient's personal needs.
What will happen during surgery?
The natural lens is removed via an incision so small, it seals itself without the need for stitches. The cataract lens is gently removed using a delicate micro-surgical technique, called phacoemulsification. The permanent intra-ocular lens implant is gently inserted in place of the cataract that was removed. The procedure is fast, with virtually no discomfort, and vision is generally improved almost immediately. Most patients are thrilled with their dramatically improved ability to see near and far without glasses.
Should I consider ReSTOR®, Tecnis Multifocal® or Crystalens® Multifocal Lenses?
Are you struggling to read or see close objects? Are you having difficulty with glare while driving? Do you have blurred distance vision? Then ReStor®, Tecnis Multifocal® or Crystalens® lenses may be right for you.
Most people with cataracts and otherwise healthy eyes can benefit from Multifocal Lenses. Multifocal lenses can also be used to correct refractive errors in patients who have not yet developed significant cataracts. You may also be able to have Multifocal Lenses even if you've had prior refractive surgery.
